Marie Ananian, La Sierra University music freshman who currently studies piano with Dr. Rodriguez won 2nd prize in her category of J.S. Bach’s Toccatas on Sunday, October 4, 2015 during the final stage of a long competition process. The Southern California Junior Bach Festival is a competition designed to expose the music of the great German master, Johann Sebastian Bach, to instrumentalist who live in Southern California. The competition is designed to have two elimination stages and one final competition. In the first two stages, three judges evaluate every performance and pick the top students to go on to the next stage, regardless of their category. After the regional competition, students are then lumped into specific categories and compete with the best students in that category. Marie’s performance of the Bach Toccata in D Major, BWV 912 was good enough for her to receive 2nd prize in a tightly contested competition. Once again, we are proud of our students’ accomplishments and the public recognition they are receiving.
