The Department of Music at La Sierra University is delighted to have baritone Craig Colclough, a regular performer at the LA Opera, come to hold a masterclass for our students.
This event is open to the public, and will feature several students who will workshop songs and skills with Mr. Colclough. This is a rare opportunity you will not want to miss!
Piano accompaniment will be provided by Dr. Kimo Smith.
BIOGRAPHY
Verdi’s Macbeth has become a signature, serving as Colclough’s debut at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Bayerische Staatsoper and Luxembourg Opera. 2022 saw their return to the Royal Opera House Covent Gardens where they reprised their role as Telramund in Wagner’s Lohengrin. Colclough is currently building the character of Alberich under the direction of Brigitte Fassbaender for the Tiroler Festspiele in Austria. Having debuted Alberich in her 2021 Rheingold to great acclaim, Colclough will complete the Cycle in 2024.
2022-2023 saw Colclough as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Los Angeles Opera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the Atlanta Opera with continued appearances as Monterone in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera. 2018-19 included appearances as Peter in Hansel & Gretel at the Los Angeles Opera, Fra Melitone in La Forza del Destino for his company debut with Oper Fankfurt, as well as the Storyteller in A Flowering Tree for their company debut with Opera Queensland. During the summer, Colclough returned to the title role of Don Pasquale with the Berkshire Opera Festival.
Colclough received a BA from the Johnston Center of Integrated Studies in a Study of Creativity combining Vocal Performance, World Religion and Music Composition. MM University of Redlands Conservatory of Music.
